Juz

Be honest about where you’re at with this juz. The whole plan is built off this, so don’t round up.

Yearly Guides

Your memorisation roadmap. Choose how long you want to take to memorise the whole Qurʾān, from one year up to five, and the guide lays out the exact portion to memorise each day, month by month, until you finish.

Where you stand

Assess each juz

This is the first assessment toward creating your revision cycle. Here you choose the ajzāʾ you have memorised and what condition each juz is in. This then gives you a method to revise the different ajzāʾ in their different conditions, all assembled in one structured cycle.

1. Select the juz   2. Select its condition   3. Click Save

Completely forgotten Very weak Weak Average Strong Very strong

Your summary appears below the grid. The full cycle it builds is in the Cycle section. Ratings save on this device.

Your plan

Your full cycle, by day

On this page you will find your full revision cycle, and the method for revising your revision according to its different conditions.

This is your full cycle, based on the condition of each juz. It shows what to revise each day and how much to revise each day.

How to revise each condition

This shows how to revise your revision and how to approach it according to its different conditions.

Very weak
2 pages a day

10 days per juz

Weak
2.5 pages a day

8 days per juz

30 to 45 min sessions

Average
5 pages a day

4 days per juz

25 to 30 min sessions

Strong
10 pages a day

2 days per juz

20 to 25 min sessions

Very strong
1 full juz a day

1 day per juz

A juz that is completely forgotten is not revision. It goes back to new memorisation and is re-memorised from the start.

Preservation revision

The sub cycle

The sub cycle was created to keep strong ajzāʾ strong while you are still strengthening the remainder of your ajzāʾ. The last thing you want is to strengthen a juz only to forget it because you were focusing on the others.

You have two portion options daily, depending on your time and availability. From the ajzāʾ you have already strengthened, you can either revise one juz daily, or half a juz daily.

Choose daily pace

Strong and very strong ajzāʾ appear here as a second cycle to preserve strengthened ajzāʾ.

How to revise

Read once from the muṣḥaf.

Most recent memorisation

New revision

This is for the juz you are memorising right now. You recite it every day from the start of the juz up to your page, so the new memorisation locks in before it slips.

Pick the juz and page you’re on to see your portion for today.
Recite this portion every single day, from the start of the juz up to your current page.

How to revise

  • 2 to 5 times from the muṣḥaf, then 2 to 5 times from memory
  • Bare minimum: once from the muṣḥaf and once from memory

Why daily, from the start?

A new lesson, when first memorised, leaves the memory very quickly if not revised swiftly and consistently. Reciting from the start of the juz every day means that throughout the entire period of memorising it, you accumulate a large amount of repetition, and this repeated revision allows the juz to become firmly embedded.

Work through it as you go

Your checklists

Choose the checklist you need. Tap each box as you complete a repetition, and your place is kept for the day.

00:00Time this session

For a portion you are memorising for the first time. Work through the three steps in order.

For the juz you are memorising right now, recited daily from the start of the juz up to your current page.

For a portion you have already memorised. Choose its condition and the checklist adjusts to it.

The methodology

Revision methods

This explains how to revise properly: the condition of each portion, the two stages of muṣḥaf then memory, and how many times to repeat. Read it once at the start, then come back whenever you need a reminder.

Completely
forgotten
No ability to recite from memory and no recollection of the āyāt. Treat as new memorisation, starting from scratch.
Re-memorisefrom the start
Very weak
You can recite while looking, but very little from memory.
7 to 10× · 7 to 10×muṣḥaf · memory
Weak
You can recite from memory but with many mistakes.
6 to 9× · 6 to 9×muṣḥaf · memory
Average
You recite fluently from memory but still make an excessive amount of mistakes per page or surah.
5 to 7× · 5 to 7×muṣḥaf · memory
Strong
You make very few mistakes throughout the portion.
3 to 5× · 3 to 5×muṣḥaf · memory
Very strong
Two mistakes or fewer throughout the entire portion.
1 to 3× · 1 to 3×muṣḥaf · memory
What you’re really after is reciting it with no mistakes.

Repetition numbers are guidelines. The real measure: keep going until the portion is recited without mistakes. With each cycle the same portion needs fewer reps, because your memorisation strengthens. Weak → Average → Strong → Very Strong.

How to use The Hifdh Guide

  1. Set your stage and guide below, whether you are still memorising or maintaining, and the timeline you are following.
  2. Assess your ajzāʾ on the Assess page: tap each juz and rate how strong it is. This builds your personalised revision cycle.
  3. Open your Checklists each day. Tick off each repetition as you go (muṣḥaf first, then memory).
  4. Mark each cycle day complete on the Cycle page as you finish, and your schedule advances on its own.
  5. Add new memorisation in New Revision, and keep older ajzāʾ strong through the Sub cycle.
  6. Back up your progress regularly (further down this page) so it stays safe and can move to another device.

Install it like an app so it opens full screen and works without a connection. On iPhone or iPad, open this page in Safari and tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and tap the menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen. Your progress is kept on the device you install it on.
